Эдуа́рд VIII (англ. Edward VIII; имена в крещении Э́дуард А́льберт Кри́стиан Джордж Э́ндрю Па́трик Дэ́вид; 23 июня 1894[…], Уайт-Лодж, Большой Лондон — 28 мая 1972[…], XVI округ Парижа) — король Великобритании, Ирландии и Британских заморских доминионов, император Индии на протяжении десяти месяцев (с 20 января по 11 декабря 1936 года); не был коронован. Отрёкся от престола, чтобы вступить в брак с разведённой Уоллис Симпсон, на что правительство Великобритании не давало согласия. Царствование Эдуарда VIII было самым коротким в британской истории с XVI века (когда 9 дней правила Джейн Грей) и закончилось первым отречением монарха от престола после того же XVI века (когда отреклась шотландская королева Мария Стюарт).

Thelma Furness, Viscountess Furness (née Morgan, 23 August 1904 – 29 January 1970), was a mistress of Edward VIII while he was Prince of Wales. She was supplanted in his affections by Wallis Simpson, for whose sake Edward abdicated, becoming the Duke of Windsor. She was the maternal aunt of the writer, fashion designer, and socialite Gloria Vanderbilt.
During most of Furness's relationship with the Prince of Wales, she was married to British nobleman Marmaduke Furness, 1st Viscount Furness. They married in 1926 and divorced in 1933, the year before Thelma's relationship with the Prince of Wales ended.
Furness's first name was pronounced in Spanish fashion as "TEL-ma".

Marguerite Marie Alibert (9 December 1890 – 2 January 1971), also known as Maggie Meller, Marguerite Laurent, and Princess Fahmy, was a French socialite. She started her career as a prostitute and later courtesan in Paris, and from 1917 to 1918, she had an affair with the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII). After her marriage to Egyptian aristocrat Ali Kamel Fahmy Bey, she was frequently called princess by the news media of the time. In 1923, she killed her husband at the Savoy Hotel in London, England. She was eventually acquitted of the murder charge after a trial at the Old Bailey.
